The new way to sell solar in California in a NEM3.0 landscape

The new Net Energy Metering 3.0 program launched on April 15, 2023, has caused a ruckus in the California solar industry, particularly amongst the salespeople who only knew how to sell on dollar per watt ($/watt). If you aren't familiar with this metric, you take the cost of the system and divide it by the nameplate output rating of the inverter.

If you don't live in California, you may be wondering, "Why should I care about this?" What happens in California, like it or hate it, tends to move east. The antagonistic utilities here in CA give precedence to other utilities and these goofy programs just may hit your area at some point.

In this video, I talk about why I hate this metric, and how the salespeople who stay in California will try to sell solar. Hint: It involves a battery!
